There is a rechargeable battery system available for the Freedom™, Nucleus 5 and Nucleus 6 cochlear implant processors.

The performance of the rechargeable battery compared to three high powered zinc-air batteries (size 675) is similar to that described in our article on rechargeable hearing aid batteries. To summarise, users can expect shorter battery life and lots of recharging.
