Can I use another brand of battery in my hearing aid?

There are two aspects to this question.

International Standards

Zinc-air hearing aid batteries are made to international standard sizes. This enables people to use any brand can be used in their hearing aid as long as the battery is the same size.

There are four international standard sizes of zinc-air hearing aid batteries: 10, 13, 312 and 675. You can use any brand of zinc-air hearing aid battery as long as you use the correct size in your hearing aid. Manufacturers have slightly different methods of manufacturing zinc-air batteries and there may be performance differences.

This is the same principle when buying AA or AAA batteries. You can use any brand such as Duracell, Eveready, Rayovac, Varta, Panasonic, Maxcell, etc in your electronics and toys.

Branding

Did you know there are many different brands of zinc-air hearing aid batteries and less than 10 manufacturers of such batteries in the world!

This is because of the practice of 'rebranding' and 'private labels'. One brand is made in the same factory as the manufacturer's brand, identical battery but different packaging. This means consumers are faced with a bewildering variety of brands and prices. For example, one popular global brand of hearing aid battery is actually made by another manufacturer who also have their own brand.

At HABEX we carry only the manufacturers' brand to avoid confusing customers.
